Feed Summariser

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 August 2026

This extension is run by an individual, not a company. It collects as little as it can get away with, and none of it is sold or shared for advertising. This page describes exactly what is stored and why.

It does not track your browsing. The extension only learns about a video when you press Summarise on it. Videos you scroll past, watch, or search for are never recorded.

What is collected

Data Why
Your Google account ID and email address To sign you in and attach your weekly allowance to an account, so it survives clearing your browser.
The IDs of videos you press Summarise on, and when So re-opening one is free rather than counting against your allowance again, and to show how many people have summarised a video.
Minutes of video summarised this week To enforce the free allowance.
Your thumbs up / thumbs down on a summary To work out when a summary is bad enough to be rewritten.

No payment details are collected, because there is nothing to pay for. No advertising or analytics trackers are used. No profile of your interests is built.

Who it is shared with

To produce a summary, the URL of the video you asked about is sent to Google's Gemini API, which watches it and writes the summary. Your identity is not sent with it — Google receives the video URL, not who asked. Google's handling of that request is covered by their own API terms.

Signing in uses Google OAuth. Only your basic profile (email address and account ID) is requested. The extension cannot read your Gmail, Drive, YouTube account, or anything else.

Data is stored on servers operated by Railway (application hosting) and Neon (database hosting), both within the EU where available. Once a day a short report on how the service is running — including who signed up or opened a summary that day — is sent to the person who runs it over Telegram, whose servers are outside the EU. It is not shared with anyone else, and it is never sold.

How long it is kept

Your account and the record of videos you have summarised are kept until you delete them. Usage counters reset weekly. Summaries themselves are kept indefinitely — they are AI-written descriptions of public videos and contain nothing about you.

Deleting your data

Open the extension's settings and press Delete my data. This immediately and permanently removes your account, your summarised video history, your votes and your usage counters. It cannot be undone.

Summaries themselves are not deleted. They are AI-written descriptions of public videos and contain no information about you — deleting your data removes every link between you and any of them.

Your rights

If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, export or erase your personal data, and to object to its processing. Erasure is available immediately via the button described above. For anything else, get in touch at the address below and it will be handled within 30 days.

The legal basis for processing is your consent, given when you sign in, together with the legitimate interest in preventing abuse of a free service.

Children

This service is not directed at children under 13, and accounts for them are not knowingly created.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top will change and the new version will be published here before it takes effect.
